Anaerobic digestion

Valbio provides global waste water treatment plants using anaerobic digestion, in which effluents and residual waste are transformed into renewable energy (biogas).

Valbio Methacore Technology

The Valbio Methacore WWT by Anaerobic digestion solutions involve a fluidised bed of granular sludge. This technology is particularly well suited to the processing of liquid effluents with high dissolved organic load. It allows the anaerobic digestion of effluents in a wide range of organic characteristics, with a reduced hydraulic retention time (1 to 5 days) compared with infinitely stirred anaerobic digesters.

The experts at Valbio have optimized the Valbio Methacore technology to achieve organic matter (COD, BOD5) removal rates as high as 98% in some cases. Organic matter removal, and thus biogas production, are maximised, while the consumption of chemical reactants and the manpower required for operation and maintenance are minimised.

ISAT Technology

The ISAT digester is an infinitely stirred type reactor with free bacterial growth and sequential batch processing. It is designed to process effluents and organic waste with higher dry/solid matter content, either independently or in combination with the Valbio Methacore system.

Valbio has experience of the different anaerobic digestion technologies; we can offer integrated solutions combining the Valbio Methacore and ISAT technologies to optimise the investment level and the biogas production to the available effluents and waste.

Valbio has designed, build and commissioned an hybrid unit for the Tyras Cheese and Dairy plant in Greece, which transforms 13 tons of COD per day into biogas :
* 2 Valbio Methacore WWT anaerobic digesters process the cheese factory liquid effluents (whey permeate, white waters)
* 1 ISAT digester processes production rejects and expired products returned from distribution channels (yogurt, fruits juice, flavoured milk, ...) .
